VersaDrop™ Inkjet Technology in Detail

VersaDrop™ is a breakthrough inkjet technology developed by Fujifilm Dimatix (FUJIFILM Dimatix), which offers high flexibility, high speed, and high adaptability for the operation of print heads, one of the core technology highlights of the Emerald QE series print heads.

1. Core technology features

1. Flexible operation mode

Supports two key operating modes, meeting different printing needs:

◦Adjustable Binary Ink Droplet Volume: Precisely adjust the ink droplet output volume according to the printing scenario, break the limit of fixed ink droplet volume, and meet a variety of needs from fine printing to high coverage printing;

◦ Grayscale function: Through the gradient control of ink droplet volume, the grayscale transition of printing effects is realized, enhancing the detail level and color reproduction of images or patterns.

1. High frequency and efficient processing capability

The technology features extremely high processing speeds, complementing the high-frequency operating characteristics of the Emerald QE print heads (such as the QE-30 model with a nozzle frequency of 33 kHz), allowing it to meet the demanding industrial-grade production capacity requirements while ensuring print precision, avoiding bottlenecks in print efficiency caused by insufficient processing speeds.

2. Wide fluid adaptability

Deeply adapted for compatibility with the multi-ink feature of the Emerald QE printing head, it can stably drive a variety of fluids, including UV-curable ink, highly corrosive organic solvent ink, and water-based ink, and can precisely control the jetting state of different viscosity fluids (8-20 cP), ensuring that all types of ink maintain stable output during the printing process.

1. Extend the range of ink droplet volumes

Thanks to VersaDrop technology, the range of drop volumes covered by the Emerald QE print head has been significantly expanded:

◦QE-30 Model: Native drop volume 30 pL, extendable to maximum 80 pL by this technology;

◦QE-80 Model: Native droplet volume of 80 pL, which can be extended up to a maximum of 200 pL through this technology, meeting the printing needs of different precision and coverage.

1. Enhance print head compatibility and combination

Thanks to the stable consistency of the technology, the Emerald QE print head with VersaDrop technology can be flexibly combined with other Q series print heads (with the same physical characteristics, the same interface) to build monochrome or multi-color printing configurations without additional adjustment of technological parameters, reducing the complexity of using multiple print heads together.

2. Ensuring high environmental adaptability

Matching the built-in temperature sensor and heater of the print head (supporting a maximum working temperature of 90°C), VersaDrop technology can precisely control the droplet jetting state in different temperature environments, avoiding issues such as droplet deviation and viscosity fluctuations caused by temperature changes, ensuring continuous and stable operation in high-demand industrial production environments.
